Change their microchip registration

Your dog has been microchipped. The microchip is currently registered with Dog Star Rescue but you will want to change that to your own information since you are now the dog’s owner. Should your dog ever get lost, a veterinarian or animal control offer will first scan the dog to check for it’s owner.

Microchips are vital

Microchips are extremely important because they can help reunite lost pets with their owners.

Chip number

The chip number should be on the medical records you received when you finalized the adoption. This will be inside your gray folder.

Register in your name

You can register the chip via the website for the company that produced the chip (just Google the chip number to find out which company produced it if you aren’t sure) or register it via a general site like foundanimals.org or freepetchipregistry.com.
